Controversial crossdresser and social media influencer, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, has suffered a major legal setback. The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has dismissed his fundamental rights lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the National Assembly.
Bobrisky filed the suit seeking a jaw-dropping N1.2 billion in damages—N200 million for alleged psychotic trauma and N1 billion for a violation of his right to a fair hearing. He also requested an injunction to prevent the EFCC and the National Assembly from harassing, detaining, or declaring him wanted.
This legal battle stemmed from allegations made by social media influencer Martins Otse, who, in a leaked audio recording, claimed that Bobrisky allegedly paid the EFCC N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Alexander Owoeye, the court ruled that Bobrisky’s claims were without merit and lacked credible evidence.
"Having evaluated the evidence placed before this Court by the Applicant, it is evident that the Applicant has failed to provide credible evidence to justify the award of the declaratory and injunctive reliefs sought by him," Justice Owoeye stated.
The judge further emphasized that the allegations of rights violations against the EFCC and the National Assembly were unsubstantiated and dismissed the case.
EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the court’s decision, signaling a significant win for the anti-graft agency.
