Recently, the daughter of singers 2Face and Annie Idibia, Isabel Idibia, expressed her unhappiness about how her parents were portrayed in the reality show “Young, Famous and African.” Isabel took to social media to confront the popular narrative about her parents after their widely publicized stint on the television show, in a compelling act of openness.
She revealed that she was unhappy with the inaccurate portrayal of her parents, emphasizing that because of her close proximity to them and shared household history, she had a unique perspective on her parents' lives, which netizens would never have. She further stressed that their knowledge of her parents is limited to what they can find on social media or the internet, which is often very different from the truth.
Isabel acknowledged that she was unable to change people's deeply held beliefs about her parents, but she made it clear that they will never know the whole truth about anything that has actually happened in her family.
To drive home her point, Isabel voiced her displeasure over the way her parents were portrayed in “Young, Famous, and African,” calling it an unfavorable and inaccurate portrayal that failed to capture the essence of who they are.
In her words:
“I don’t like the way my parents were portrayed in Young, Famous and African, the way they were portrayed was just so wrong. Whenever I try to back my parents up and say that’s not what happened everyone is like ‘how would you know? You’re just a child’ How would you know? You’re not in my family, your knowledge is based on stuff that you see on Safari, Instagram and social media.
“I know it because I’ve been in the household with my parents. I can’t change everyone’s perspective on social media because they will always think what they want to think but they will never know the actual true story or background of anything that has ever happened in my family or anything that has happened before I was even born. I don’t like the way my parents were portrayed, it wasn’t the best image and it wasn’t completely accurate.” she wrote.
