In response to the false tweet, the social media user behind the doctored screenshot, @belikebaddy, issued an apology to Peruzzi and Davido, expressing remorse for his actions and promising not to repeat such behavior. He wrote, "I apologize for posting an edited tweet involving @peruzzi and @davido. I take full responsibility for the consequences of my actions and promise that it will never happen again. Despite the apology, Peruzzi has made it clear that he intends to pursue legal action. In a subsequent tweet, he urged his followers to retweet the apology so that the individual responsible for the doctored screenshot would have the means to cover legal expenses. He wrote, "Yall retweet this, so he can have money for court." In another post, Peruzzi stated, "God forgives, I do too. But not this time. F**k that."
