In a recent interview with Daddy Freeze, Nigerian rapper Ikechukwu, also known as Ikechukwu, opened up about his experience at the now-defunct Mohits Records and the financial support he received from co-founder D'Banj. Ikechukwu revealed that D'Banj used to give him only N50,000 from shows he got booked for N1 million, but this changed after a confrontation.

According to Ikechukwu, he confronted D'Banj about the unfair compensation, and as a result, D'Banj consulted his mother before increasing the amount to N150,000. Ikechukwu emphasized that D'Banj's mother held significant influence within the record label, and decisions were often made with her approval.

"Banga [D'Banj] is going to hate this when I say this. But the truth is the truth," Ikechukwu shared during the interview. "When we used to go for shows, they [promoters] would pay Banga money, and he would act like he was doing me a favor. He would give me only N50,000 from shows I got booked for N1 million and above. After we fought, he eventually increased it to N150,000. He said he spoke with his mom, and they made the decision together."

The revelation sheds light on the dynamics within Mohits Records and the role D'Banj's mother played in the decision-making process. Ikechukwu's statement aligns with the experiences shared by other artists, highlighting the influence and spiritual involvement of D'Banj's mother in the record label.

It is important to note that Mohits Records disbanded in 2012, with co-founder Don Jazzy citing differences in interests as the reason for the breakup. The revelations made by Ikechukwu provide further insight into the inner workings of the label and the relationships between its members.
